QUEL MITICO STADIO

Un omaggio alla squadra del cuore.... Granata.

Ai miei tempi di pulcino, anche se brevi, quando eri convocato qui si giocava il sabato pomeriggio. 1972. Che sensazione !

What about alcohol

Ever observed this ? I did, unfotunately in more than one person.

Alcohol depresses your central nervous system, lowers inhibitions and impairs judgment. Drinking large amounts can lead to a coma and even death. Mixing alcohol with medications or illicit drugs is extremely dangerous and can be fatal. Alcohol influences your brain and leads to a loss of coordination, slowed reflexes, distorted vision, memory lapses and blackouts. Teenage bodies are still growing and alcohol has a greater impact on young people’s physical and mental well-being than on older people.

Short-term Effects:
Feeling of warmth, flushed skin, impaired judgment, lack of coordination, slurred speech, memory and comprehension loss. Bursts of heavy drinking usually result in a “hangover,” nausea, shakiness and sometimes vomiting.

Long-term Effects:
Tolerance to many of the unpleasant effects of alcohol and a resulting ability to drink more. This leads to a deteriorating physical condition that can include liver damage and increases the risk of heart disease. ...A person can become dependent on alcohol. If someone suddenly stops drinking, withdrawal symptoms may set in. They range from jumpiness, sleeplessness, sweating and poor appetite to convulsions and sometimes death. Alcohol abuse also fosters violence and conflicts in one’s personal relationships.

This is NOT meant to depress, but are important informations.

Focus, Focus - so they call it

Focus! How many times we hear this word. Mostly when people try to convey to somebody else that they should get something done in some sort of way.

I looked at it and observed what "focus" really is.

"Focus" is actually nothing. What we really should say instead is, "Do what you are supposed to be doing! Do not space out with your mind or lose attention from your task. Just DO it!"

What is the difference between people that have a high rate of success and people that do not? Well, the ability to DO things. Especially things that they should be doing or that they like to be doing. Just follow through. Get it done. Complete the action. Rather simple, isn't it?

This is very applicable in anything anybody does. Sport in general amplifies this need. But really, no kidding, even the simplest job of stamping a piece of paper would need this simple ability.

And this is what I have to say about that !

Sganasciate

This post need to be in Italian. No question...

Decisamente la comicita' all'italiana mi mancava.

Balls

I'd better contain myself since I'm not used to bloggin'.

Facts:

Materazzi grabbed Zidane's shirt during the World Cup Final Italy vs. France 2006 and Zidane scoffed that he would give him his shirt after the game if he really wanted it. Materazzi replied he would rather have Zidane's sister (not even knowing that he actually had one).

NB: In Italy, disparaging someone's sister is a common way to retaliate in conversation.

Zidane turned and gave Materazzi a head-butt to the chest that knocked him down. Zidane was sent off the field with a red card.

Views:

Let me tell you what I think about Zidane and Materazzi. I played soccer (football, as we say in Europe) for quite a long time in my younger days. What Materazzi told Zidane, although definitely not nice, is a very light expression commonly used when you play at any level. It pretty much goes unnoticed and no offense is taken. Retaliation is given in the course of the game. You kick some ankles, you punch a bit when a corner kick comes along, and so it goes - friends as before.

I do like both players and they are not the ones being noisy with complaints over the situation. I believe the media has been pumping it up in order to have something to write, trying to create the classic controversy.

What is all this fuss for? Nothing, no big deal. These are things that happen in soccer every day all over the world. Yet, they nearly made a racial case out of it through their conjecture about what happened.

Morale: News and media need to talk from experience and stick to the facts or don't say anything at all.
